Koroliov, an old hand, has recorded Schubert, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven \u2013 in short, most of the great works of the repertoire. The pianist delivers pieces here that have accompanied him all his life, the well-known nocturnes, waltzes, \u00e9tudes, and mazurkas by the great French romantic composer Chopin. With this disc recorded on a Steinway D-274 in the Jesus-Christus-Kirche church in Berlin, Koroliov offers a wise and mature interpretation. Nothing is artificial here \u2013 the pianist performs with precision and restraint, elegance and refinement.
