This is the fifth volume in the series, and it is being released at the same time as the fourth volume by Lorraine Desmarais, which I mentioned in another review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/panm360.com\/en\/records\/lorraine-desmarais-friends-alain-trudel-eric-lagace-paul-brochu-disques-bg-jazz-montreal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">REVIEW OF THE ALBUM LORRAINE DESMARAIS &amp; FRIENDS (MONTREAL JAZZ SERIES 4)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Surrounded and supported by Jean-Nicolas Trottier (trombone), Jonathan Cayer (piano), S\u00e9bastien Pellerin (double bass), and Alain Bourgeois (drums), the artist presents a program of ten tracks, including eight original pieces. Among these, a long suite of six movements in homage to the city of Quebec, <em>Escales de la Vieille Capitale.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">There, we visit, in a pleasant Coltranian jazz, iconic places in the city in the form of impressions and varied moods: the steep streets in <em>Pente Glissante<\/em> (Slippery Slope), a certain sweetness of life in <em>Parc des voiliers<\/em> (Sailboat Park), a quiet nighttime stroll (that&#8217;s my imagination) in <em>Murmures de Sillery<\/em> (Sillery\u2019s Whispers), etc. The lively finale of <em>1670<\/em>, with its strong rhythm (drums-double bass) topped by the melodic arcs of the brass (saxophone-trombone), which quickly transform into impressive acrobatics, leaves a very beautiful impression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/montrealjazzseries.bandcamp.com\/album\/montreal-jazz-series-1-changes-synaptiques\"><strong>Other volumes of the Montreal Jazz Series to discover on Bandcamp<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/disquesbg.com\/montral-jazz-series\"><strong>Web page of the series (BG Records)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Annie Dominique gives a heartfelt rendition of <em>My One and Only Love<\/em> (Guy Wood), as well as a well-developed version, somewhere between Shorter and Coltrane, of <em>All or Nothing at All.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Entre Deux Rives<\/em>, a beautifully crafted jazz album, achieves the improbable miracle of bringing together the Metropolis and the Capital under one roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zeffy.com\/en-CA\/ticketing\/mtl-jazz-series-5-lancement-dalbum-annie-dominique-quintet\"><strong>THE LAUNCH WILL TAKE PLACE ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2026, AT CABARET JAZZ L\u2019ENTRACTE, IN MONTREAL &#8211; Info and tickets<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The saxophonist and composer Annie Dominique has gathered some of the big names in Montreal jazz for this new album, Entre Deux Rives (Between Two Shores), which is released under the banner of the Montreal Jazz Series, promoted by Disques BG.
