The Torontonian, who became a Montrealer and fell in love with Quebec and the Francophonie in general, has won the hearts of Quebecers for several years now. 15th album of her career, second 100% sung in French (a third, <em>Lumi\u00e8res d\u2019hiver,<\/em> was mostly but not entirely), <em>La plus belle saison<\/em> offers versions sometimes jazz, sometimes bossa\/samba, sometimes pop, always dressed in elegant arrangements by Fran\u00e7ois Richard, of several titles mostly from Quebec, with a few detours to France (Charles Trenet with <em>Dans les rues de Qu\u00e9bec<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Emilie-Claire Barlow - La plus belle saison - New Album\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dg5AZAnpl5g?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">If<em> Je suis en amour <\/em>(Diane Tell) remains quite close to the original, like <em>J\u2019ai rencontr\u00e9 l\u2019homme de ma vie <\/em>(Diane Dufresne), others such as <em>Les deux printemps<\/em> (Daniel B\u00e9langer) take on a more resolutely jazz feel. A beautiful and twilight version of <em>Le vent m\u2019appelle par mon pr\u00e9nom<\/em> brings a rather pleasant subdued light to the hit carried by Marie-Pierre Arthur. Elsewhere, <em>Quelles sont les chances<\/em> by Damien Robitaille takes advantage of the presence of the main interested party in a duet with Emilie-Claire, in a velvety arrangement where the two protagonists seem to enjoy teasing the flames of flirtation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Other visits to highlight: the legendary Gilles Vigneault on a sumptuous and almost classical <em>Pendant que<\/em>, and Jim Corcoran, still as inimitable as ever in a very successful version of the raucous <em>D\u2019la bi\u00e8re au ciel<\/em>. It would be too long to name each musician in the ensemble, which is well-staffed, but it is enough to know that they are top-notch musicians from Montreal (with some visitors from Toronto).
