The Montr\u00e9al-based acoustic bass player proves he is a writer of startling range and force in this collection of songs. Story and literary rhythm are the guiding force and glue throughout a rag-tag gang of grooves and feelings. Opener “Entre chez moi et chez toi” encapsulates the intimacy of the storytelling, and the line is never once dropped. There is a journal-like quality in each entry, as if we are being brought into the emotional arc of a year in its entirety. All the markers are there: days of love and wonder, others of self-destruction and existential musings. It\u2019s the kind of record that makes you want to talk to the writer. Not to be outdone, some of the finest moments are courtesy of a very able rhythm section. A roaring piano solo on “Punk Bossa” confirms that, yeah, the band feels it too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
