Occhipinti, from Toronto, draws on a multitude of sources of inspiration, many of them very educated, to create his miniature panoramas. Homer&#8217;s <em>Odyssey <\/em>(in <em>Song of Calypso<\/em>), the London neighbourhood of Southwark (<em>Southwark<\/em>), very close to the Tate Modern and the very Shakespearean Globe Theater, the mathematics of the Fibonacci sequence (<em>Canticum Abaci<\/em>), the paintings of Picasso and Seurat (<em>Promissed Kiss<\/em> and <em>Seurat Cha-cha<\/em>), the cinema of David Lynch, Fellini, Tati (<em>Playtime<\/em>), and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"PROMISED KISS - David Occhipinti Camera Ensemble - March 13, 2019\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OqC-08F7nQI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">We particularly notice the unusual colours achieved through the ensemble&#8217;s original instrumentation: guitar, violin, clarinet and bass clarinet, vibraphone, double bass, and marimba, occasionally joined by a bassoon and a piccolo. On the harmony side, Occhipinti generally remains attached to consonance, although he dares to venture further into chromaticism, almost atonality at rare moments (as in <em>Canticum Abaci<\/em>).
