This three-course album from the <em>brat<\/em> mastermind A.G. Cook is a big meal to take down, but you\u2019ll be delighted to find it\u2019s consistently tasty throughout. The first section opens with classic PC Music pop-techno, featuring clippy vocals, warbling metallic beats, and melodies that harken back to Charli XCX\u2019s <em>Number 1 Angel<\/em>. The second part &#8211; and my personal favourite &#8211; sounds more akin to his side project Thy Slaughter\u2019s recent album <em>Soft Rock<\/em>: quiet emo-esque vocals from Cook himself, screechy guitar leads, and minimal percussion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">We conclude the <em>Britpop<\/em> experience by branching away from A.G.\u2019s signature style and getting more experimental-noisy with it on \u201cButterfly Craft\u201d and \u201cPink Mask.\u201d My favorite track, \u201cLucifer,\u201d features Charli\u2019s vocals and is a fitting hangover companion for brat summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-spotify wp-block-embed-spotify wp-embed-aspect-21-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: Britpop\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/album\/5y9Fis539BaAsi7MmHKHm2?si=tcNCh7g_Qq-RG-hPFYChJQ&#038;utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What\u2019s cookin\u2019 good lookin\u2019!?
