Their no-holds-barred approach to contemporary music leads them to create an aesthetic and structural fusion of avant-garde art music with multi-trend electro, rock and ambient.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ian Chang - &quot;Mega Cicada&quot; Performed by Pathos Trio (Official Video)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Oh_UsdOAbYs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Polarity<\/em>, their new album, is an anthology of compositions, each quite different from the next, which, taken as a whole, give the impression of a kaleidoscopic tribute to Nils Frahm. We go from a kind of hiccupping drum&#8217;n&#8217;bass where Steve Reich is also invited (<em>Mega Cicada <\/em>by Ian Chang) to a synthwave anthem reminiscent of the soundtrack to <em>Terminator <\/em>(1984) and criss-crossed by hard-rock drumsets (<em>Split<\/em> by Phong Tran), passing through conventional but seductive House, Deadmau5-style (<em>PITY<\/em> by Andrew M. Rodriguez) and the industrial\/jazz E.S.T.\/Indie mix of <em>Monolitos <\/em>(by Vincente Hansen Atria). The strange, exploratory ambient, tinged with neo-classicism, of <em>21600 <\/em>(Paul Mortilla) completes the programme, along with the neo-minimalist synth-pop of <em>Home\/Gone<\/em> (Clara Warnaar).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Polarity Teaser Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Vyj1wwa4M2w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The eclectic, rather sunny selection is certainly pleasing, but doesn&#8217;t seem to put the members of the acoustic trio in any great technical or interpretive danger.
