With her culturally ecumenical ensemble Oktoecho, Makdissi-Warren will present <em>Saimaniq Sivumut,<\/em> a show featuring Inuit and avant-garde throat singing, Arabic polyrhythms, Japanese and Irish flutes, modern art music, jazz and more.<em> Saimaniq Sivumut<\/em> (which means &#8221;peace&#8221; and &#8221;forward-looking&#8221;), follows on from the first <em>Saimaniq<\/em>, which won an Opus Award in 2018. I spoke to the artist about it all.
