It\u2019s not a bad way to introduce yourself and it certainly caught my attention.\u00a0Based in Montreal, Birds of Prrrey have been a staple of the local scene for the past few years, but somehow I\u2019ve never gotten around to seeing them live. They recently dropped their debut album, <em>Peace Love Homicide<\/em>. It\u2019s a dreamy, soft-grunge banger of an album with punk and Riot Grrrl elements (two genres and sounds that\u2019s have been foundational to who they are). All I can say is I\u2019ve been missing out.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1080\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/panm360.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/FME2026-BOP-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-164322\" srcset=\"https:\/\/panm360.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/FME2026-BOP-1.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/panm360.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/FME2026-BOP-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><br>I\u2019ll admit I\u2019ve always had a soft spot for a three-piece band. There\u2019s something I really like about a trio getting so much out of so little. And they killed it. They produced a wall of sound that enveloped the Main Stage. Noelle Inniss, hunched over her drum set, brought an intensity and energy that drove the whole thing forward. Grace Spitzley, on bass, had this hypnotic quality with her bass riffs. For me though, what really elevated the band\u2019s performance was Tremblay. Her vocals were hauntingly beautiful. Her wailing invoked a sense of yearning and pining within me that made me reminisce about all of my past romantic failings. It\u2019s a tough and thankless job to open a festival\u2019s main stage. The crowd is sparse, the mood hasn\u2019t really been set yet, and the pressure is on to set the tone.
