Actif depuis 2018, le duo NOORG propose une musique improvis\u00e9e \u00e0 partir de mati\u00e8res sonores subtiles qui sont travaill\u00e9es de main de ma\u00eetre et combin\u00e9es avec un sens de l\u2019\u00e9coute inou\u00ef. Il se dit fond\u00e9 sur deux principes musicaux : le drone (ou bourdon, un son textural soutenu) et l\u2019organum (technique m\u00e9di\u00e9vale \u00e0 l\u2019origine de la polyphonie, \u00e0 comprendre ici comme l\u2019ajout de sons sur des sons). Le groupe a publi\u00e9 un premier disque, l\u2019excellent Plexus<\/em>, fin 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qui plus est, dans ce projet, \u00c9RIC BROCHARD et LO\u00cfC GU\u00c9NIN sortent volontairement de leur zone de confort. Voyez-vous, normalement le premier est contrebassiste (ou bassiste avec Derviche) et le second, compositeur de musiques acoustiques et \u00e9lectroacoustiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un concert de NOORG se d\u00e9ploie lentement devant des tables jonch\u00e9es d\u2019objets de toutes sortes, de p\u00e9dales d\u2019effets et d\u2019ordinateurs portables. Des sons d\u00e9licats \u00e9mergent, a\u00e9riens ou insectiles, puis sont manipul\u00e9s, mis en boucle, \u00e9chang\u00e9s, transform\u00e9s en un paysage sonore qui peut aller du myst\u00e8re presque inaudible \u00e0 un enchev\u00eatrement intense tout aussi myst\u00e9rieux. Le duo propose donc un v\u00e9ritable voyage pour l\u2019oreille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NOORG, a duo active since 2018, makes improvised music out of subtle sonic materials that are masterfully manipulated and combined with uncanny deep-listening artistry. The project is said to be based on two musical notions: the drone (a sustained textural sound) and the organum (the medieval technique at the origin of polyphony, to be interpreted here as the addition of sounds over sounds). The group released its debut record, the wonderful Plexus<\/em>, in late 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It should be noted that, with this project, \u00c9RIC BROCHARD and LO\u00cfC GU\u00c9NIN are willingly stepping out of their comfort zone, as the former is usually a contrabassist (or an electric bassist in Derviche) and the second, a composer of acoustic and electroacoustic music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NOORG\u2019s concerts unfold slowly in front of tables loaded with all sorts of objects, effect pedals and laptops. Delicate sounds, often of an aerial or insectile nature, emerge and get treated, looped, exchanged, and transformed into soundscapes that can range from the mystery of near-inaudibility to intense assemblages that are just as mysterious. In other words, the duo\u2019s performance will take your ears on a journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
