Moiti\u00e9 p\u00e9ruvienne et moiti\u00e9 canadienne, Emma Beko est n\u00e9e \u00e0 Budapest, mais a grandi \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al aupr\u00e8s de trois demi-fr\u00e8res a\u00een\u00e9s qui l’ont tr\u00e8s t\u00f4t initi\u00e9e \u00e0 la musique Nu-Metal, Hardcore et Punk. \u00c0 neuf ans, Emma s\u2019allongeait la nuit sur son lit et s\u2019\u00e9poumonait \u00e0 chanter les paroles emo de cette \u00e8re post-grunge. Peu de temps apr\u00e8s, elle a d\u00e9m\u00e9nag\u00e9 \u00e0 New York, o\u00f9 elle a pass\u00e9 ses derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es du secondaire compl\u00e8tement immerg\u00e9e dans la culture vibrante du rap, s\u00e9chant les cours pour boire des 40 oz. au bord de l’eau et \u00e9couter un album de Big L ou de GZA. En vieillissant, les go\u00fbts et les influences d’Emma ont \u00e9volu\u00e9, allant des productions complexes de Vegyn \u00e0 la voix d\u00e9licate de FKA Twigs, mais l’essence de ses premi\u00e8res exp\u00e9riences musicales ne l’a jamais quitt\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dans les ann\u00e9es 2010, Emma et sa meilleure amie d’\u00e9cole ont form\u00e9 le duo Heartstreets. Les deux adolescentes sont devenues un incontournable de la sc\u00e8ne musicale montr\u00e9alaise, formant alors l\u2019un des rares groupes hip-hop dirig\u00e9 par des femmes au Canada. Pr\u00e8s d’une d\u00e9cennie plus tard, et plus en phase avec son art que jamais, Emma s’est r\u00e9-introduite au monde en tant qu’artiste solo avec son premier projet complet BLUE. Ses derniers singles \u201cSadguitar_V777.wav\u201d (produit par CFCF) et \u201cPlaster :)\u201d (produit par Da-P) on \u00e9t\u00e9 super bien re\u00e7us et ont parfaitement annonc\u00e9 son nouvel EP \u201dDigital Damage\u201d, une premi\u00e8re partie d\u2019un album \u00e0 deux parts. Sa nouvelle musique met encore plus en valeur l’honn\u00eatet\u00e9 brutale qui se retrouve toujours au c\u0153ur de son art \u00e0 travers de fortes collaborations qui \u00e9l\u00e8ve son art \u00e0 un autre niveau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Half Peruvian and half Canadian, Emma Beko was born in Budapest but grew up in Montreal with 3 older step brothers who very early on introduced her to nu-metal, hardcore and punk music. Nine year old Emma would lay at night on her bed singing her heart out all the emo lyrics of that post-grunge era. Not long after, she moved to New york where she spent her last years of high school completely immersed in it\u2019s vibrant rap culture and would skip class to go drink 40\u2019s by the water to listen to a Big L or GZA album. As she grew older Emma\u2019s taste and influences evolved, ranging from Vegyn\u2019s intricate productions to FKA Twigs’ delicate vocals but the essence of her early musical experiences have never left her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 2010s, Emma and her best-friend from school formed the duo Heartstreets. The two teenagers became a staple of Montreal\u2019s music scene and were one of the few female-led hip-hop groups in Canada at the time. Almost a decade later, and more in tune with her artistry now than ever, Emma has re-introduced herself to the world as a solo artist with her debut full-length project BLUE. Her latest singles, \u201csadguitar_V777.wav\u201d (produced by Grammy nominee CFCF) and \u201cPlaster :)\u201d (produced by hip-hop Da-P) have been extremely well received and perfectly announced her new EP \u201cDigital Damage\u201d, showcasing more than ever the brutal honesty that is the core of her artistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
