Certes, c\u2019est une description galvaud\u00e9e, mais c\u2019est la seule fa\u00e7on de d\u00e9crire correctement le groupe. Sur fond de paysages sonores percussifs \u00e9lectroacoustiques complexes compos\u00e9s par le batteur Pat Mastelotto (Mr. Mister, King Crimson, The Rembrandts, XTC, Martin Briley et plusieurs centaines d\u2019autres), leurs constructions m\u00e9lodiques sont construites uniquement \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019instruments de la famille du tapping. L\u2019ex\u00e9cution magistrale, vertueuse et magnifique des bassistes de session les plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bres au monde, Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, John Lennon, Paul Simon, Chuck Mangione, Lou Reed, David Bowie et plusieurs milliers d\u2019autres, ainsi que leurs m\u00e8res) et l\u2019un des compositeurs et producteurs les plus cr\u00e9atifs des vingt derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, le psychologue, musicologue, concepteur d\u2019instruments et multi-instrumentiste Markus Reuter (Centrozoon, Europe String Choir, This Fragile Moment et plus d\u2019une centaine d\u2019autres collaborations d\u00e9fiant les genres). Leur musique est virtuose et high-tech, mais spirituelle et organique. Profond\u00e9ment complexe, mais magnifiquement sensible. Abrasivement basculant, mais m\u00e9lodiquement apaisante. C\u2019est de la musique progressive et de la musique rock, mais ce n\u2019est pas du Prog-Rock au sens dinosaure du genre. La somme est beaucoup, beaucoup plus grandes que les parties. Ils r\u00e9alisent ce que peu d\u2019autres groupes dans le domaine de l\u2019art-rock r\u00e9alisent dans cette \u00e8re post-moderne et post-v\u00e9rit\u00e9&nbsp;: R\u00e9sonance. Sans cette r\u00e9sonance, cette capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 cr\u00e9er une musique m\u00e9morable, je n\u2019\u00e9crirais pas ces lignes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>FEATURING MEMBERS OF KING CRIMSON<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>TONY LEVIN AND PAT MASTELOTTO,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>AND TOUCH GUITAR INNOAVATOR MARKUS REUTER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>RETURN TO MONTREAL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stick Men is a band like no other. Admittedly, this is an overused description, but it is the only way to describe the band properly. Over the backdrop of intricate electroacoustic percussive soundscapes composed by drummer Pat Mastelotto (Mr. Mister, King Crimson, The Rembrandts, XTC, Martin Briley, and several hundred others), their melodic constructions are built only using instruments of the tapping family, masterfully, virtuously and beautifully executed by one of the most celebrated session bassists in the world, Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, John Lennon, Paul Simon, Chuck Mangione, Lou Reed, David Bowie, and several thousand others, and their moms) and one of the most creative composers and producers of the past twenty years, psychologist, musicologist, instrument designer and multi-instrumentalist Markus Reuter (Centrozoon, Europa String Choir, This Fragile Moment, and a over a hundred other genre-defying collaborations). Their music is virtuosic and high-tech, yet spiritual and organic. Deeply complex, yet beautifully sensible. Abrasively rocking, yet soothingly melodic. It is progressive music, and it is rock music, but it is not Prog-Rock in the dinosauric sense of the genre. The sum is much, much larger than the parts. They achieve what few other bands in the art-rock realm achieve in this post-modern, post-truth era: Resonance.
