DIVKA is a sonic experience that draws on ancient folk songs from Ukrainian musical traditions and women’s musical traditions from around the world. The project weaves a sonic constellation of delicate arpeggios on the bandura (a little-known traditional Ukrainian harp), ethereal voices, and ancestral guttural invocations on the viola. A true sonic rebellion, DIVKA’s music is steeped in mythology, traditional village songs, and generations of feminine power, mystical fantasy, and a touch of vengeance.
