Bill Cole est un musicien de jazz, compositeur, p\u00e9dagogue et auteur am\u00e9ricain. Innovateur reconnu, il marie avec brio les sonorit\u00e9s d\u2019instruments non temp\u00e9r\u00e9s \u00e0 une forme d\u2019art am\u00e9ricaine : le jazz. Cole se sp\u00e9cialise dans les instruments \u00e0 vent non occidentaux, particuli\u00e8rement ceux \u00e0 anche double, notamment les sonas chinoises; les hojok et piri cor\u00e9ens; les nagaswaram et shehnai indiens; et la trompette tib\u00e9taine. Bill Cole is an American jazz musician, composer, educator and author. An admired innovator, Cole successfully combines the sounds of untempered instruments with an American art form \u2013 jazz. Cole specializes in non-Western wind instruments, especially double reed horns: including Chinese sonas, Korean hojok and piri; Indian nagaswarm and shenai and Tibetan trumpet; as well as the Australian didgeridoo and Ghanaian flute. For 31 years Cole led the Untempered Ensemble, a group he founded in 1992. He has performed with Sam Rivers, Billy Bang, Jayne Cortez, Julius Hemphill, Ornette Coleman, James Blood Ulmer, William Parker, Fred Ho, Gerald Veasley and others; at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Town Hall, Symphony Space and venues around the U.S. and in Europe; and has recorded for Boxholder Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ras Burnett<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ras Burnett est un saxophoniste, fl\u00fbtiste, compositeur, auteur et p\u00e9dagogue n\u00e9 \u00e0 Brooklyn. Issu d\u2019une famille de musiciens, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 initi\u00e9 \u00e0 la musique par son grand-p\u00e8re et son p\u00e8re, tous deux saxophonistes et compositeurs. Il a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 aupr\u00e8s d\u2019eux tout en jouant au sein d\u2019ensembles scolaires, de la cinqui\u00e8me ann\u00e9e jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la fin de ses \u00e9tudes secondaires. D\u00e8s 1987, il se produit avec des groupes de reggae locaux et des ensembles de percussions africaines,\u00e0 parall\u00e8lement \u00e0 un engagement de longue date envers le free jazz. Il obtient en 2018 un baccalaur\u00e9at en \u00e9tudes musicales de SUNY Empire State College, puis, en ao\u00fbt 2023, une ma\u00eetrise en composition musicale du Vermont College of Fine Arts. Ras Burnett is a Brooklyn born saxophonist, flautist, composer, writer and educator. He hails from a musical family via his grandfather and father, both saxophonist\/composers. He studied music with both as well as public school bands from 5th grade through high school. In 1987 he began performing in local reggae bands and African drum ensembles concurrent with his lifelong free jazz engagement. In 2018 he received a BA in Music Studies from SUNY\/Empire State College and in August 2023, his MFA in Music Composition from Vermont College of Fine Arts. He is a recipient of grants from The Jerome Foundation, New Music USA and Media Alliance Inc. Ras believes in the power of creative music and its effect on social and personal change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Althea SullyCole<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Althea Sully Cole est une multi-instrumentiste, compositrice et ethnomusicologue originaire de New York. Elle vit actuellement \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, o\u00f9 elle est professeure adjointe d\u2019ethnomusicologie \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9cole de musique Schulich de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 McGill. Althea a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 son instrument principal, la kora \u2014 une harpe \u00e0 21 cordes originaire de la r\u00e9gion mandingue d\u2019Afrique de l\u2019Ouest \u2014 aupr\u00e8s des koristes Yacouba Sissoko et Edou Manga. Elle a \u00e9galement consacr\u00e9 trois ann\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tude de l\u2019instrument \u00e0 Dakar, au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal. Althea SullyCole is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and ethnomusicologist from New York City. She is currently based in Montr\u00e9al, QC, where she is Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University. Althea studied her primary instrument, the kora, a 21-stringed harp from the Mand\u00e9 region of West Africa, under korists Yacouba Sissoko and Edou Manga. She spent 3 years studying the instrument in Dakar, Senegal. In addition to her solo work, she has worked with Billy Harper, Billy Bang, Fred Ho, Daara J Family, Sahad Sarr, Royal Messenger, LaFrae Sci, Lisette Santiago, Joseph Daley, Craig Harris and father Bill Cole, among many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor Ho Bynum<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor Ho Bynum est un interpr\u00e8te, compositeur et chef d\u2019ensemble accompli. Taylor Ho Bynum is an accomplished performer, composer, and bandleader. He is the director of the jazz and creative music ensemble at Dartmouth College, where he also teaches composition and improvisation. His varied endeavors include leading his own bands (such as his long-running Sextet and his 15-piece creative orchestra The PlusTet), his Acoustic Bicycle Tours (where he travels to concerts solely by bike across thousands of miles) and his stewardship of Anthony Braxton\u2019s Tri-Centric Foundation (which he served as executive director from 2010-2018, producing and performing on many major Braxton projects, including two operas and multiple festivals). Bynum has worked with legendary figures such as Bill Dixon and Cecil Taylor and maintains current collaborative projects with forward thinking peers like Tomas Fujiwara, Mary Halvorson, and Tomeka Reid, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bob Stewart<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
