The Plastic Waste Band<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Plastic Waste Band est un groupe de rock exp\u00e9rimental n\u00e9 de la communaut\u00e9 jazz de Montr\u00e9al, au Canada. C\u2019est un vrai band : des collaborateurs de longue date qui s\u2019envolent dans des improvisations psych\u00e9d\u00e9liques de groupe, port\u00e9s par des compositions finement cisel\u00e9es. Guitares \u00e9lectriques, saxophone enflamm\u00e9, contrebasse percutante et grosses drums \u00e9voquent une collision entre Led Zeppelin et le John Coltrane Quartet. \u00c0 la suite de la sortie de leur premier album \u00e9ponyme en 2017, le groupe a choisi de verser tous les profits des ventes \u00e0 des organismes \u0153uvrant pour la protection de l\u2019environnement. Leur deuxi\u00e8me album, Crushed, est paru en septembre 2019 sur l\u2019\u00e9tiquette montr\u00e9alaise Florafone Records. Il s\u2019articule autour de la question de cr\u00e9er de l\u2019art face \u00e0 la destruction in\u00e9vitable de l\u2019humanit\u00e9. Revelations EP, sorti en 2020, poursuit ce th\u00e8me apocalyptique en explorant la beaut\u00e9 qui peut na\u00eetre de nos propres ruines. Depuis leur tout premier show en 2016, The Plastic Waste Band s\u2019est produit \u00e0 maintes reprises, notamment au Off Festival de Jazz de Montr\u00e9al (2018, 2023), au TU Jazz Festival (2019, 2022) ainsi qu\u2019au Festival International de Jazz de Montr\u00e9al (2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Plastic Waste Band is an experimental rock band born from the jazz community of Montreal, Canada. This is a band in the truest sense: longtime collaborators who fly into psychedelic group improvisations on the wings of finely tuned compositions. Electric guitars, soaring saxophone, thumping acoustic bass, and big drums evoke Led Zeppelin crashing a gig with the John Coltrane Quartet. Following the 2017 release of their self-titled debut album, they chose to donate all proceeds from the album\u2019s sales to charities dedicated to environmental conservation. Their second album, \u201cCrushed,\u201d was released on Montreal label Florafone Records in September 2019. It is centered around the issue of creating art in the face of humanity\u2019s inevitable destruction. \u201cRevelations EP,\u201d released in 2020, builds upon this apocalyptic theme, depicting the beauty that can grow from our own ruins. Since their first show as a band in 2016, The Plastic Waste Band has performed extensively, most notably at the Off Festival de Jazz de Montr\u00e9al (2018, 2023), TU Jazz Festival (2019, 2022) and the Festival International de Jazz de Montr\u00e9al (2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TV Erased<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

TV Erased, ce sont des \u00e9clats \u00e9tudi\u00e9s de bruit de guitare et des nuances post-punk, sur une base de batterie R n B soul et de percussions latino et moyen-orientales. Ce sont ces influences que le groupe assemble pour cr\u00e9er une b\u00eate magnifique et originale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is beauty in the unwavering intensity of the band\u2019s sound. TV Erased are studied bursts of guitar noise and post-punk shadings, atop a foundation of soulful R n B drumming and Latino and middle-eastern percussion. These are the influences that the band stitches into a beautiful and original beast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stucco<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Groupe post-punk form\u00e9 en 2019 \u00e0 Calgary, en Alberta. Il comprend d\u2019anciens membres de DRI HIEV, Crack Cloud et Body Lens. Le premier album de Stucco a \u00e9t\u00e9 enregistr\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019automne-hiver 2023 avec Chris Dadge (Alvvays, Chad VanGaalen, Lab Coast) \u00e0 la t\u00eate de la production. L\u2019album est sorti en novembre 2024. Les chansons de Stucco refl\u00e8tent le tourbillon du consum\u00e9risme, du capitalisme et de la technologie, tout en explorant rythmiquement l\u2019angularit\u00e9 de la musique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A post punk band formed in 2019 from Calgary, AB. Featuring former members of DRI HIEV, Crack Cloud, and Body Lens. Stucco\u2019s debut LP was recorded during the fall\/winter of 2023 with Chris Dadge (Alvvays, Chad VanGaalen, Lab Coast) at the helm of production. The album was released in November of 2024. Stucco\u2019s songs reflect the vortex of consumerism, capitalism and technology while carrying out rhythmic explorations into the angularity of music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poolgirl<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poolgirl est un groupe de rock alternatif de cinq membres bas\u00e9 \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, au Qu\u00e9bec. Combinant des influences riot grrl et punk avec du rock ind\u00e9 m\u00e9lodique, le groupe joue en concert sans arr\u00eat depuis la sortie du d\u00e9mo \u00ab is this it ??? \u00bb en janvier 2024. Le plus r\u00e9cent single de Poolgirl, \u00ab Triple A \u00bb, sorti en mai, incarne ce que le groupe fait de mieux : un rock amusant et \u00e9nergique qui ne se prend pas trop au s\u00e9rieux. Qu\u2019il s\u2019agisse de concerts en sous-sol ou en plein air, de lancements de magazines ou de festivals, Poolgirl attire toujours une foule d\u2019amis pour danser, s\u2019amuser et chanter (ou crier) avec lui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poolgirl is a five piece alternative rock group based in Montreal, QC. Combining riot grrl and punk influences with melodic indie rock, the band has been playing live nonstop since releasing the demo \u201cis this it???\u201d in January 2024. Poolgirl\u2019s most recent single \u201cTriple A\u201d, released in May, embodies what the band does best: fun, energetic rock that doesn\u2019t take itself too seriously. From D.I.Y. basement and outdoor gigs to magazine launches and festivals, Poolgirl consistently brings out a crowd of friends to dance, mosh, and sing (or scream) along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
