good flying birds is a jangling noisy guitar pop group based in the midwest USA. it began in december 2023 with a collection of 4-track cassette recordings and stop-motion videos uploaded to youtube under \u201cTalulah God\u201d, along with a chaotic and colorful GIF-infested website. over the following months, songs were uploaded fairly frequently, eventually catching the attention of influential punk and diy label operator Martin Meyer. in january 2025, \u201ctalulah\u2019s tape\u201d was released on Rotten Apple. a collection of home recordings from 2020-2024, it showcased a wide-ranging love for the history of independent guitar music, clever and melodic songwriting, and an approachable twee-punk charm. it made an immediate splash in underground circles, getting frequent independent radio play and selling 300 cassettes in under a month. on the same release day as \u201ctalulah\u2019s tape\u201d, a split tour tape between answering machines, good flying birds, and soup activists dropped and also sold out quickly, showcasing the bands newest material and the voice of vocalist Susie Slaughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Garden of Love s\u2019est form\u00e9 en 2022 sous le nom de Jane Harms Love Triangle autour de chansons \u00e9crites par Jane Harms, avec Cole Woods de Laughing \u00e0 la batterie. Aujourd\u2019hui, avec Sony Cody (Body Break) \u00e0 la basse, ils continuent de peaufiner un son distinctif qui oscille entre folk rock, power pop et new wave avec l\u2019urgence du garage punk, tout en restant r\u00e9solument uniques. Garden of Love formed first in 2022 under the name Jane Harms Love Triangle around songs written by Jane Harms, with Cole Woods of Laughing on drums. Now with Sony Cody (Body Break) taking up the bass guitar they continue to hone a distinctive sound that flutters across the genre map from folk rock to power pop to new wave with garage punk urgency, while remaining decidedly their own. Their intricate and lyrically dense songs are words of desire and caution to an endangered garden of decadent pleasures. It\u2019s rosepunk for breadpunks. It\u2019s a bit silly and a bit serious and a bit desperate and a bit ecstatic.
This band sounds like someone who has a pretty distorted understanding of what\u2019s acceptable trying to write the most universally appealing music she knows how to, with a rhythm section of incredibly talented and similarly twisted fools. Or maybe like, if a drunken Genesis cover band tried to placate a dissatisfied punk audience with sped up Neil Young songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
