Yoo Doo Right <\/strong>(21h)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le trio de rock exp\u00e9rimental Yoo Doo Right (Montr\u00e9al, CA) marie guitares m\u00e9lodiques et bruyantes, trames de synth\u00e9tiseurs trafiqu\u00e9s, lignes de basse \u00e9toff\u00e9es et d\u00e9cha\u00eenements percussifs calcul\u00e9s, rendant des pi\u00e8ces tentaculaires et cathartiques. Puisant inspiration non seulement du post-rock, du krautrock et du shoegaze, de la musique classique et concr\u00e8te, comme de l\u2019\u00e9lectroacoustique, il cr\u00e9e un son unique d\u00e9voilant \u00ab des gigantesques monoliths de riffs rugissants qui se brisent contre des essaims de rythmes turbulents \u00bb (PopMatters). Depuis sa formation en 2016, le groupe a fait para\u00eetre deux longs jeux (Don\u2019t Think You Can Escape Your Purpose et A Murmur, Boundless to the East), trois EPs (Nobody Panicked and Everybody Got On, EP2 et The Sacred Fuck EP), ainsi qu\u2019une poign\u00e9e d\u2019extraits, ajoutant maintes tourn\u00e9es au Canada, aux \u00c9tats-Unis et en Europe. Ce faisant, ils ont particip\u00e9 \u00e0 nombre de festivals de renom tels que SXSW, Levitation, Dunk! Fest, Sled Island, Treefort Music Fest et M pour Montr\u00e9al, en sus de partager la sc\u00e8ne avec Acid Mothers Temple, DIIV, A Place to Bury Strangers, Wooden Shjips, Kikagaku Moyo, FACS et Jessica Moss. Pr\u00e9vu pour le 8 novembre 2024 via Mothland, le solennel et contestataire From the Heights of Our Pastureland s’inscrit parfaitement dans le riche catalogue musical de Yoo Doo Right; un po\u00e8me sonore sinc\u00e8re et patient traitant de l\u2019expansion effr\u00e9n\u00e9e et destructive faite au nom du \u00ab progr\u00e8s \u00bb, de l\u2019effondrement imminent et de ce qu\u2019implique la reconstruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experimental rock trio Yoo Doo Right (Montr\u00e9al, CA) wed noisy, melodic guitar parts, effects-laden synthesizer soundscapes, deep bass grooves and patented percussive furies into sprawling, cathartic musical pieces. Drawing inspiration from post-rock, krautrock, shoegaze, classical music, electroacoustics, and musique concr\u00e8te, they create a unique sound where \u201ctowering monoliths of roaring riffs crash against swarms of restless rhythms\u201d (Pop Matters). Since 2016, they have released two full-lengths (Don\u2019t Think You Can Escape Your Purpose, A Murmur, Boundless to the East), three EPs (Nobody Panicked and Everybody Got On, EP2, The Sacred Fuck EP), and a few singles, including a 7\u201d split with Acid Mothers Temple, whilst touring extensively in Canada, the United and Europe. Along the way, they have performed at notorious events such as SXSW, Levitation, Dunk! Fest, Sled Island, Treefort Music Fest, and M for Montreal, also opening for the likes of Acid Mothers Temple, DIIV, A Place to Bury Strangers, Wooden Shjips, Kikagaku Moyo, FACS, and Jessica. Scheduled for November 8th, 2024 via Mothland, From the Heights of Our Pastureland is yet another solemn if defiant entry in Yoo Doo Right\u2019s rich music catalogue, an honest and patient sonic poem about the destructive process of unbridled expansion in the name of “progress”, the inevitable collapse and what it means to rebuild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solids (22h)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

D\u00e9cembre 2019. Le groupe \u00ab rock \u00bb (disons, pour faire simple) Solids fait trois spectacles pour souligner ses dix ans d\u2019existence, mais aussi – et surtout – le d\u00e9but d\u2019un de ces fameux hiatus ind\u00e9finis (on va tous\u00b7tes pogner un deux minutes quand le monde au plus large sens du terme va s\u2019en caller un \u00e0 son tour \u00e0 peine quelques mois plus tard en mars 2020, t\u2019sais veux dire). Cinq ans plus tard, une certaine envie de d\u00e9finir le dit hiatus fait son chemin. Des jams se donnent, puis force est d\u2019admettre que \u00e7a marche encore cette affaire l\u00e0. La formation (Xavier Germain Poitras \u00e0 la guitare & voix et Louis Guillemette \u00e0 la batterie & voix), qui s\u2019\u00e9tait fortifi\u00e9e du guitar hero Guillaume Chiasson (Bon Enfant, Jesuslesfilles, Ponctuation\u2026) en spectacle de 2016 \u00e0 2019, en profite pour revenir \u00e0 la formule duo de ses premiers balbutiements et jamme avec de nouvelles b\u00e9belles. Le jam est toujours central.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

December 2019. The “rock” band (let’s just say, to put it simply) Solids is doing three shows to celebrate its tenth anniversary, but also – and above all – the beginning of one of those famous indefinite hiatuses (we’re all going to get a two-minute hiatus when the world in the widest sense of the term gets one in turn just a few months later in March 2020, you know, I mean). Five years later, a certain desire to define said hiatus is making its way. Jams are held, and then we have to admit that this thing is still going strong. The band (Xavier Germain Poitras on guitar & vocals and Louis Guillemette on drums & vocals), which was strengthened by the guitar hero Guillaume Chiasson (Bon Enfant, Jesuslesfilles, Ponctuation\u2026) in live performances from 2016 to 2019, is taking the opportunity to return to the duo formula of its early days and jam with new gadgets. The jam is still central.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
