Music: being born into it is one thing; making a life out of it is what we’re talking about. An engaging, detached young man from Saint-Prime, Gab Bouchard independently launched the country-rock EP with pop touches Cerveau-lent in 2017. Spurred on by the local buzz, he then headed to Montreal to recreate the buzz in the metropolis, preceded by his trademark moustache.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first popular milestone, the fruit of hard work and heartbreak, his album Triste pareil was released on the eve of the first confinement of 2020, allowing him to do launch shows only in Montreal and Quebec City. And although his first round of concerts was scuttled, he was able to get back on track with a batch of festival appearances in the summer of 2021, and began work on his second album, Grafignes, over two winters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Released in August 2022, Grafignes reflects the progress made since the first album, taking more time and space. It’s a collection with themes that are both “lusher and heavier on the mind”, dealing with being pushed to the wall, introspection, old acquaintances and equally old stories, carried by country and 70s influences with big riffs and soaring choruses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
