Far from being static, the duo&#8217;s music constantly renews itself, playing with listeners&#8217; expectations as few others know-how, with confusing, eclectic soundscapes that borrow as much from the Japanese avant-garde of the &#8217;80s as from the New York experimental minimalism of the previous decade. Music of gray zones, then, and profoundly anti-manichean: at once futuristic and nostalgic, contemplative and alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Projet francophone op\u00e9r\u00e9 par les habiles Marc-Antoine Barbier (Choses Sauvages) et \u00c9lie Raymond (Foreign Diplomats\/Frais Dispo), Totalement Sublime tente de rendre justice \u00e0 son nom, une exploration \u00e0 la fois. Loin d\u2019\u00eatre statique, la musique du bin\u00f4me se renouvelle constamment, jouant avec les attentes de ses auditeurs comme peu d\u2019autres savent le faire \u00e0 grand coups de paysages sonores d\u00e9routants et \u00e9clectiques, empruntant autant \u00e0 l\u2019avant-garde japonaise des ann\u00e9es 80 qu\u2019au minimalisme exp\u00e9rimental new-yorkais de la d\u00e9cennie pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. Une musique de zones grises, donc, et profond\u00e9ment anti-manich\u00e9enne : \u00e0 la fois futuriste et nostalgique, contemplative et vivante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe style=\"border: 0; width: 350px; height: 442px;\" src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/track=649156621\/size=large\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=0687f5\/tracklist=false\/transparent=true\/\" seamless><a href=\"https:\/\/totalementsublime.bandcamp.com\/track\/peupliers\">Peupliers de Totalement Sublime<\/a><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Frais Dispo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three years after their last album, Foreign Diplomats have completely revamped themselves, moving from abundant indie-pop to\u2026 abundant indie-pop, but in French! The result is Frais Dispo, a foursome of carefree fun. On Teinte, released last spring, the band unveils a rich, supple music, somewhere between country, art-pop and Quebec chanson, with lyrics that are sometimes cryptic, sometimes comic, but always delivered with characteristic phlegm. The album also features collaborations with award-winning saxophonist Joseph Shabason (Destroyer, The War on Drugs), just to add a little jazz and new age influence to the mix, as if that wasn&#8217;t enough already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trois ans apr\u00e8s son dernier album, la formation Foreign Diplomats se revampe compl\u00e8tement, passant d\u2019une indie-pop foisonnante \u00e0\u2026 une indie-pop foisonnante, mais en fran\u00e7ais! Le r\u00e9sultat : Frais Dispo, quatuor officiant sous le signe du plaisir et de l\u2019insouciance. Sur Teinte, paru au printemps dernier, le groupe d\u00e9voile une musique riche et souple, sise entre country, art-pop et chanson qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise, aux textes parfois cryptiques, parfois comiques, mais toujours livr\u00e9s avec un flegme caract\u00e9ristique. Hailing from the Garden Hill First Nation in Manitoba, the young rapper doesn&#8217;t let systemic racism or his visual impairment get him down, barriers he fights with a smile against a backdrop of homemade pop-trap productions and powerful, personal lyrics. Entirely self-produced, he&#8217;s already racked up over 12 million streams on various platforms and multiple airplay appearances on CBC, CTV and Virgin Radio after just three years in the business; an inspiring career that&#8217;s only just begun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mattmac fait de la musique avec une r\u00e9silience exemplaire. Boy Golden and his lush mullet will have done just that, dealing with such themes on Church of Better Daze, debut effort released in 2021. The doors opened quickly thereafter, with appearances at several major Canadian festivals and a 60-date North American tour with The Sheepdogs. On For Jimmy, an EP released in 2023, the Manitoban is less amusing and much more country, with more accomplished productions and assertive queer lyrics, moving forward with promise on the road freshly cleared by the already legendary Orville Peck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Qui n\u2019a jamais r\u00eav\u00e9 de manger un bon Kraft Dinner aux saucisses un peu d\u00e9fonc\u00e9 avec Seth Rogan?
