This evening marks the obvious meeting of the Paramirabo (Montreal) and Variances (Normandy – France) ensembles around a creation by French composer Thierry P\u00e9cou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The concert celebrates pulsation and circularity as vital elements. The pulse that translates the beating of our hearts and those of the planet as a whole. A pulse that may seem jubilant, but which also seems to be slowing down under the weight of global warming and the collapse of biodiversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paramirabo and Variances perform Steve Reich’s hypnotic Pulse (2015), echoing this idea of pulsation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also perform three creations by composers Cassandra Miller (Canadian), Missy Mazzoli (American) and Thierry P\u00e9cou (French). The latter take a look at the environmental challenges of the present and the future. This is an opportunity to discover scores that reflect their singular personalities, as well as their shared openness to pop and traditional music, and their attraction to harmony, melodic lines and periodic, repetitive, pulsating phenomena!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
