En 2015, Wyatt Hautonga, n\u00e9 en Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande, \u00e9tait occup\u00e9 \u00e0 trouver des membres de groupe au lieu de prendre au s\u00e9rieux ses \u00e9tudes en ing\u00e9nierie audio. Pendant cette p\u00e9riode, il a \u00e9crit et enregistr\u00e9 les chansons qui allaient composer In Transition (2018), une collection de d\u00e9mos imm\u00e9diates et in\u00e9branlables qui allaient jeter les bases de ce qui allait devenir un son Techno Westerns inimitable et incomparable.
En 2018, Wyatt a d\u00e9m\u00e9nag\u00e9 \u00e0 Toronto et s’est associ\u00e9 au musicien local Jake Gordon lors de l’enregistrement de l’EP Kia Ora (2019) et de Memento Mori (2020). Ces enregistrements exploraient la grandeur pop des ann\u00e9es 1980 et examinaient des th\u00e8mes tels que l’isolement, le d\u00e9sespoir et les r\u00e9cits de d\u00e9bauche nocturne. Techno Westerns a approfondi ces th\u00e8mes avec un niveau de maturit\u00e9 suppl\u00e9mentaire sur Lover Boy (2021), un opus pop frisant et d\u00e9sinvolte qui a permis au groupe de s’affirmer tant sur le plan cr\u00e9atif que musical.
Apr\u00e8s un \u00e9t\u00e9 bien rempli avec des concerts \u00e0 guichets ferm\u00e9s, une participation au NXNE et un passage en t\u00eate d’affiche au Horseshoe Tavern en 2022, Techno Westerns est toujours en pleine forme en 2023.

In 2015, New Zealand born Wyatt Hautonga was busy finding band members instead of taking his studies in audio engineering seriously. During this time, he wrote and recorded the songs that would make up In Transition (2018), a collection of immediate, unflinching demos which would lay the foundation for what would become an unmistakable, inimitable Techno Westerns sound.
By 2018, Wyatt had moved to Toronto and joined forces with local musician Jake Gordon while recording the Kia Ora EP (2019) and Memento Mori (2020). These recordings explored 1980s pop grandeur and examined themes such as isolation, desperation, and tales of late-night debauchery. Techno Westerns explored these themes further with an added level of maturity on Lover Boy (2021), a frizzy and flippant pop opus that saw the band come into it’s own both creatively and musically.
Coming off a busy summer filled with sold out shows, a NXNE appearance and a headlining slot at Horseshoe Tavern in 2022, Techno Westerns are still going strong in 2023.
