With its very first virtual edition, the Festival de Lanaudière remains faithful to its audience this summer! From July 10 to August 9, the festival offers 15 major concerts free of charge, drawn from its video archives and those of the Société Radio-Canada. Some of these recordings are exclusive. Renaud Loranger, artistic director of the Festival, remains optimistic despite the unprecedented context: “Since circumstances currently prevent us from welcoming the public at our events, we’ll be going to them this summer instead, thanks to technology. In the firmament of Lanaudière, the concerts in our virtual edition are nothing short of legendary. What an thrill to relive such rich hours of music!” It’s a great, if very different, way to enjoy the Festival de Lanaudière, which normally welcomes more than 50,000 participants to its activities from year to year.
This virtual edition is a real journey through the history of this event (from 1986 to 2019), the most important classical music festival in Canada. A series of encounters with the greatest artists is planned: Kent Nagano, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Renata Scotto, Maxim Vengerov, l’Orchestre Métropolitain, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Gwyneth Jones, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and Paavo Järvi. In addition, four films with a musical component (Ballerina, Le Soliste, Les Choristes and Amadeus) will be broadcast on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. as an extra.
