Above the Snow Line: “I’ll Never Let You Down”

par Alex Labonté

“I believe we will make it through, I believe it will make us stronger.” Can a song help alleviate the oppressive feeling that still seems to prevail after months of pandemic? It seems so, with the new single from Above the Snow Line, “I’ll Never Let You Down”.

ATSL is the industrial rock project of multidisciplinary Montreal artist Matthieu Gauthier-Prud’homme, who will be back with a third album, Rebellion, to be released on September 4. On this one, he explores different facets of revolt and opposition, while retaining the perspective of a possible better world.

Matthieu Gauthier-Prud’homme himself directed the music video for “I’ll Never Let You Down”. He also filmed it entirely with a Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact phone, which is quite a feat considering the quality of the images and effects. The song retains typical industrial sounds, but the presence of a real guitar and bass add warmth to the overall sound of ATSL. In short, a new earworm for the fans of Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, IAMX, Radiohead, Marilyn Manson, and others!
